CNN Anderson Cooper: BP & Transparency [CNN]

Teil2: Teil3: Teil4: Teil5:

Cooper reports that estimates for the oil leak have increased. Originally, estimates were 1,000 to 5,000 barrels, then increased a few weeks ago to 12,000 to 19,000 barrels, and estimates are now at 20,000 to 40,000 barrels leaking per day. The number is likely to go up since this estimate relates to before the pipe was cut, where a much higher level of oil seems to now be leaking. As of June 10-11, BP was collecting an average of 15,000 barrels per day using the cap or collector they installed above the Blowout Preventer.

Cooper interviews Professor Ira Leifer from University of California at Santa Barbara who is part of a group of scientists commissioned by the Obama administration to evaluate the oil flow rate. They feel that BP has not been forthcoming enough with providing all available data in a timely fashion to independent scientists, even those commissioned by the White House.
